Clothworkers’ Foundation

From long-standing philanthropic roots, the Clothworkers’ Foundation is a UK grant-making charity that supports organisations working with people experiencing disadvantage.

From foundations to wheels in motion — how one van named Vimto is helping expand what’s possible

The Foundation funds practical, community-based projects delivered by charities and voluntary organisations, helping them strengthen and expand the impact of their work. Rather than delivering services directly, it enables organisations already embedded in local communities to improve what they offer and reach more people in need.

A key focus is capital funding, supporting long-term investments such as buildings, equipment, vehicles, and accessibility improvements. This includes creating safer spaces, adapting facilities, and providing tools that enhance delivery. In Roots’ case, funding for a 9-seater van – affectionately named Vimto – has made a real difference, allowing more young people to take part in projects further afield and helping introduce new activities within the CIC.

The Foundation prioritises work that supports people facing challenges such as poverty, homelessness, disability, and social isolation, with an emphasis on lasting impact.

Through thoughtful funding decisions, it helps charities grow, improve, and extend their reach where it matters most.

Clothworkers’ Foundation Have Supported

What The Community Says

"Synergy joined us back in 2021 with a keen gang of young people. Admittedly we were quite skeptical about their ambitious plans and agreed to provide them with a plot expecting them to give up after a few months! But here we are 5 years later, they have absolutely transformed 5 plots and have become an integral part of our community. We even have them representing young people on our Committee, they have supported us with delivering projects across the site and helped some of the older community with fixing sheds and odd jobs. We are delighted to have them here and hope they continue to introduce young people to growing food, horticulture and nature."
