She loves Lanzalotty especially digging and planting seeds, playing hide and seek at Binbrook Woods and with the support of ex-military volunteer Graham can now display a range of bushcraft skills including fire starting using a fire stick and tinder.
Darcey enjoys learning about nature and the environment and has helped to nurture 3 clutches of Robin chicks and a clutch of Blue Tit chicks by regularly feeding the birds at the allotment.
This year Darcey achieved her first Trig Point Touch at the top of Mam Tor in the Peak District, a big win for such a small soul. She already talks a lot about being a Director and being a key holder one day!
I’ve learnt how to start a bushcraft fire using a fire stick and tinder and kindling and how to do this in a safe way. This is a survival skill that I can use when at the woods doing bushcraft sessions.
I come to Project Room every time it is open and play pool, do some art work and use the sublimation print shop. Recently I’ve been printing all of the mountain walk pictures on metal boards and creating a photo wall in the print room. I’m always at the allotment and love going to the woods and soon will be joining the others on the big mountain walks because I touched my first trig point back in Easter Holidays.
I really love seeing everyone and spending time with all the other young people that come to Project Room and Roots activities. We have loads of fun and always laughing. I especially love the Vimto at Roots, the drink and the Van!!
