Into the wild! Giving young people the chance to explore, learn, build confidence and thrive through woodland adventure!

This project gives young people access to private woodland spaces where they can step away from their everyday environments and get fully immersed in nature-based learning and outdoor adventure. Set in safe, supported woodland settings, it introduces bushcraft and survival skills in a hands-on, engaging way that feels exciting, practical, and completely different from the classroom.

Young people from some of the most deprived areas of North East Lincolnshire are given the chance to try their hand at real outdoor skills, from fire lighting and shelter building to navigation and woodland living techniques. These experiences help build resilience, problem-solving skills, and confidence while encouraging teamwork and independence.

Sessions are delivered alongside trusted adults with military backgrounds and specialist bushcraft and survival expertise, offering positive role models and a safe environment for learning. This creates a unique space where young people can learn directly from experienced practitioners who bring real-world knowledge and discipline to the activities.

Overall, the woodland project is about more than just outdoor skills – it’s about giving young people the chance to challenge themselves, connect with nature, and experience the outdoors in a way that is immersive, memorable, and genuinely empowering.

What The Community Says

"Synergy joined us back in 2021 with a keen gang of young people. Admittedly we were quite skeptical about their ambitious plans and agreed to provide them with a plot expecting them to give up after a few months! But here we are 5 years later, they have absolutely transformed 5 plots and have become an integral part of our community. We even have them representing young people on our Committee, they have supported us with delivering projects across the site and helped some of the older community with fixing sheds and odd jobs. We are delighted to have them here and hope they continue to introduce young people to growing food, horticulture and nature."
