Postcode Places Trust supports community-focused projects that improve local spaces and create meaningful opportunities for people to connect, learn, and thrive. Through funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, the Trust helps smaller charities and grassroots organisations deliver lasting benefits within their communities.

A key focus of the Trust’s work is supporting accessible outdoor spaces that encourage participation, wellbeing, and environmental connection. This includes projects that bring people together through practical activities, shared experiences, and opportunities to build confidence and independence. In Roots’ case, support for our very own allotment – affectionately named Lanzalotty – has transformed an outdoor space into a place of learning, growth, and opportunity.

Lanzalotty provides members with a welcoming environment to enjoy the outdoors while gaining hands-on experience managing a real-life allotment. From planting seeds and growing fresh produce to maintaining the allotment itself, members develop valuable practical skills alongside teamwork, responsibility, and routine.

The allotment also creates opportunities to build enterprising skills through the preparation and sale of vegetable boxes, giving members experience in producing, packaging, and sharing the results of their hard work with the wider community.

Through thoughtful funding and investment in community-led projects, Postcode Places Trust continues to help organisations create spaces and opportunities that benefit both people and planet for years to come.
